Narrative:
On takeoff out of cvg runway 27, (10000 ft long) aborted takeoff due to engine failure #3 engine. Aborted takeoff prior to V1/vr and followed company policy and procedures for an engine failure prior to vr. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that the cause of the #3 engine of the B-727 was failure of the engine driven fuel pump (drive shaft sheared). The intended cargo flight was canceled.

Narrative: ON TKOF OUT OF CVG RWY 27, (10000 FT LONG) ABORTED TKOF DUE TO ENG FAILURE #3 ENG. ABORTED TKOF PRIOR TO V1/VR AND FOLLOWED COMPANY POLICY AND PROCS FOR AN ENG FAILURE PRIOR TO VR. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE #3 ENG OF THE B-727 WAS FAILURE OF THE ENG DRIVEN FUEL PUMP (DRIVE SHAFT SHEARED).
