Narrative:
Picked up 1 inch of ice in snow and clouds. Airplane was slowed 10-15 KTS. Canceled IFR to stay below clouds once I broke out. Did not want to re-enter IMC so decided to land at bradley to get ice off and refuel. Assigned to descend to 3000 ft and continued descent to 2700 ft. Then climbed back to 3000 ft. Flying at night, in snow, IMC, into headwinds -- limits your options!
