Narrative:

I was cleared to land at sjc runway 30R. The wind was strong and down the runway. I stopped the aircraft before the first off ramp, proceeded off the runway and switched to sjc ground proceeding toward an FBO in close proximity to the runway off ramp, maybe 45 seconds taxi time. I called ground 3 times during my short taxi, but ground did not respond due to heavy traffic on the frequency. In past, I have been chastised by controllers at oak for stopping on the off ramp taxiway, clear of the runway. When the controller responded to my 4TH call, he remarked that I was already at my destination. The whole taxi took less than 1 min. I am confused about the rules, some airports actively discourage holding and blocking exits or txwys once clear of the runway. Later I called sjc tower and the supervisor told me I should hold as soon as I clear the runway even if I'm blocking a highspd off ramp, and wait for a taxi clearance. Different procedures at different airports is confusing. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: in both instances, the reporter surprised the tower local controllers by doing something out of the ordinary because of the performance of his aircraft. He contacted the towers at both sac and sjc by phone and made his peace. He has not heard from the FAA on either of these incidents. He has learned to be more specific with his turn after takeoff requests and not to taxi without specific clearance, no matter how short or obvious the taxi routing. The reporter normally flies an aircraft with higher performance, one that more nearly fits into the traffic flow.

Title: TAXI WITHOUT CLRNC.

Narrative: I WAS CLRED TO LAND AT SJC RWY 30R. THE WIND WAS STRONG AND DOWN THE RWY. I STOPPED THE ACFT BEFORE THE FIRST OFF RAMP, PROCEEDED OFF THE RWY AND SWITCHED TO SJC GND PROCEEDING TOWARD AN FBO IN CLOSE PROX TO THE RWY OFF RAMP, MAYBE 45 SECONDS TAXI TIME. I CALLED GND 3 TIMES DURING MY SHORT TAXI, BUT GND DID NOT RESPOND DUE TO HVY TFC ON THE FREQ. IN PAST, I HAVE BEEN CHASTISED BY CTLRS AT OAK FOR STOPPING ON THE OFF RAMP TXWY, CLR OF THE RWY. WHEN THE CTLR RESPONDED TO MY 4TH CALL, HE REMARKED THAT I WAS ALREADY AT MY DEST. THE WHOLE TAXI TOOK LESS THAN 1 MIN. I AM CONFUSED ABOUT THE RULES, SOME ARPTS ACTIVELY DISCOURAGE HOLDING AND BLOCKING EXITS OR TXWYS ONCE CLR OF THE RWY. LATER I CALLED SJC TWR AND THE SUPVR TOLD ME I SHOULD HOLD AS SOON AS I CLR THE RWY EVEN IF I'M BLOCKING A HIGHSPD OFF RAMP, AND WAIT FOR A TAXI CLRNC. DIFFERENT PROCS AT DIFFERENT ARPTS IS CONFUSING. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: IN BOTH INSTANCES, THE RPTR SURPRISED THE TWR LCL CTLRS BY DOING SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BECAUSE OF THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS ACFT. HE CONTACTED THE TWRS AT BOTH SAC AND SJC BY PHONE AND MADE HIS PEACE. HE HAS NOT HEARD FROM THE FAA ON EITHER OF THESE INCIDENTS. HE HAS LEARNED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC WITH HIS TURN AFTER TKOF REQUESTS AND NOT TO TAXI WITHOUT SPECIFIC CLRNC, NO MATTER HOW SHORT OR OBVIOUS THE TAXI ROUTING. THE RPTR NORMALLY FLIES AN ACFT WITH HIGHER PERFORMANCE, ONE THAT MORE NEARLY FITS INTO THE TFC FLOW.
