Narrative:
During approach to aus, we struck a large bird on the left wing. We accomplished the landing normally. The bird struck the leading edge flaps between #3 and #4 causing some sheet metal damage and popped rivets. I reported the incident to dispatch. I personally made the logbook entry and proceeded to aus operations to coordinate with dispatch, maintenance and aus agents. I did not sign the logbook since we had the possibility of ferrying the aircraft or possibly getting it fixed. When I returned to the aircraft, it was being towed away. All my bags had been off loaded. Since I did not have my normal routine of leaving the cockpit, I quite frankly forgot to sign the logbook.
