Narrative:
The tower cleared us into position on the runway. On this type of airplane we have the radios with 2 frequency selectors. When we pulled onto the runway we put the departure frequency in the 'wrong' side which put us on the departure frequency rather than the tower frequency. We had been distracted from our normal procedures by a minor engine start problem.
