Narrative:
While taxiing to runway 3C at dtw, I made a r-hand turn from taxiway F onto taxiway M. The right main departed the paved surface. I thought I had run over something on the taxiway. I stopped the aircraft. The tower asked if we needed help from our company maintenance. We asked what for and they responded that the right main (outboard wheels, I understood them to say) were off the taxiway. We said we didn't think we needed any help. We were in the process of starting the #2 engine and continued. The aircraft taxied out under its own power with very little more than normal breakaway thrust. I continued to the run-up pad and we called maintenance to come out and inspect the gear. After they checked it, we taxied to gate for the required maintenance. Supplemental information from acn 299407: need: wider taxi area at location, clear taxi markings in all conditions.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING TO RWY 3C AT DTW, I MADE A R-HAND TURN FROM TXWY F ONTO TXWY M. THE R MAIN DEPARTED THE PAVED SURFACE. I THOUGHT I HAD RUN OVER SOMETHING ON THE TXWY. I STOPPED THE ACFT. THE TWR ASKED IF WE NEEDED HELP FROM OUR COMPANY MAINT. WE ASKED WHAT FOR AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THE R MAIN (OUTBOARD WHEELS, I UNDERSTOOD THEM TO SAY) WERE OFF THE TXWY. WE SAID WE DIDN'T THINK WE NEEDED ANY HELP. WE WERE IN THE PROCESS OF STARTING THE #2 ENG AND CONTINUED. THE ACFT TAXIED OUT UNDER ITS OWN PWR WITH VERY LITTLE MORE THAN NORMAL BREAKAWAY THRUST. I CONTINUED TO THE RUN-UP PAD AND WE CALLED MAINT TO COME OUT AND INSPECT THE GEAR. AFTER THEY CHKED IT, WE TAXIED TO GATE FOR THE REQUIRED MAINT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 299407: NEED: WIDER TAXI AREA AT LOCATION, CLR TAXI MARKINGS IN ALL CONDITIONS.
