Narrative:
On climb out from ksan, border 4 departure, heading direct to julian. We were advised of crossing traffic descending to FL240. We were passing FL220. Crossing traffic was on TCASII we received a TA, then traffic resolution indicating for us to descend. We initiated a descent. We saw the traffic and reported our actions to ZLA. Suggestion to all, unless you are issued a crossing restr, you do not have to climb/descend at maximum rate thus triggering TCASII resolutions to other aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: TCASII. FLC FOLLOWED TFC RESOLUTION. CLB RATE.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT FROM KSAN, BORDER 4 DEP, HDG DIRECT TO JULIAN. WE WERE ADVISED OF XING TFC DSNDING TO FL240. WE WERE PASSING FL220. XING TFC WAS ON TCASII WE RECEIVED A TA, THEN TFC RESOLUTION INDICATING FOR US TO DSND. WE INITIATED A DSCNT. WE SAW THE TFC AND RPTED OUR ACTIONS TO ZLA. SUGGESTION TO ALL, UNLESS YOU ARE ISSUED A XING RESTR, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CLB/DSND AT MAX RATE THUS TRIGGERING TCASII RESOLUTIONS TO OTHER ACFT.
