Narrative:

Right engine egt began to rise above the 20 degree margin temperature limit for the current OAT. I reduced power lever and observed no reduction in egt or torque. I then reduced power to just above flight idle. Egt slowly began to decrease. I put power lever back up to match the left, right egt and torque began surging erratically, since egt was surging past 600 degrees momentarily, torque was surging approximately plus or minus 500 ft pounds, and yaw was significant, I secured the right engine. I took control of aircraft, assigned first officer to declare emergency, and landed in san antonio without further incident.

Title: INFLT ENG SHUTDOWN.

Narrative: R ENG EGT BEGAN TO RISE ABOVE THE 20 DEG MARGIN TEMP LIMIT FOR THE CURRENT OAT. I REDUCED PWR LEVER AND OBSERVED NO REDUCTION IN EGT OR TORQUE. I THEN REDUCED PWR TO JUST ABOVE FLT IDLE. EGT SLOWLY BEGAN TO DECREASE. I PUT PWR LEVER BACK UP TO MATCH THE L, R EGT AND TORQUE BEGAN SURGING ERRATICALLY, SINCE EGT WAS SURGING PAST 600 DEGS MOMENTARILY, TORQUE WAS SURGING APPROX PLUS OR MINUS 500 FT LBS, AND YAW WAS SIGNIFICANT, I SECURED THE R ENG. I TOOK CTL OF ACFT, ASSIGNED FO TO DECLARE EMER, AND LANDED IN SAN ANTONIO WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
