Narrative:
I checked cylinder head temperature indicator on my pre departure takeoff and everything seemed to be working ok so I departed for the grand canyon. I believe I do an ok job of checking my engine instruments. On the way back from the grand canyon I noticed that the cylinder head temperature was inoperative. I was about 50 mi from L15, I continued on to L15 checking oil temperature, it was in the green. Upon landing I notified maintenance of the problem and they indicated that the problem would be fixed. The only thing I did not do was to fill out the maintenance log on the inoperative cylinder head temperature indicator, which I should have done.
