Narrative:
I was departing daytona beach, fl, (dab) for stuart, fl, (sua). Ground control cleared me to runway 7R on taxiway west with a hold short of runway 7L. After holding at runway 7L I was cleared across runway 7L and continued on taxiway west. As I approached runway 7R it appeared that I would arrive at an intersection with runway 7R and I was concerned because it is a short runway for an intersection takeoff. I had a clipboard on my lap with charts and an airport diagram. I tried to access the airport diagram and the whole thing fell off my lap onto the floor. There were no aircraft in front of me on taxiway west so I looked and reached down trying to retrieve the fallen material. While my head was down I apparently crossed taxiway south and the runway 7R hold line. The ground controller then called for me to hold short of runway 7R. I immediately stopped and did not penetrate runway 7R but was across the hold line. The hold short did not come before I crossed the hold line. Also I would point out that I was never instructed to go from taxiway west to taxiway south and then to runway 7R. After the stop the ground controller had me do a 180 degree turn and then turned me onto taxiway south and then to runway 7R end. A normal departure then followed. I think this incident was due to a taxi clearance that was not complete. In addition I should not have put my head down to retrieve the fallen material. I was a transient at a very busy airport that has a lot of flight school activity and I think the ground controller felt that everyone knew that they should go from taxiway west to taxiway south to reach the end of runway 7R. Technically I didn't violate my clearance, ie, taxiway west to runway 7R.

Title: SMA PLT CROSSES HOLD LINE WHEN TAXIING TO RWY.
Narrative: I WAS DEPARTING DAYTONA BEACH, FL, (DAB) FOR STUART, FL, (SUA). GND CTL CLRED ME TO RWY 7R ON TXWY W WITH A HOLD SHORT OF RWY 7L. AFTER HOLDING AT RWY 7L I WAS CLRED ACROSS RWY 7L AND CONTINUED ON TXWY W. AS I APCHED RWY 7R IT APPEARED THAT I WOULD ARRIVE AT AN INTXN WITH RWY 7R AND I WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE IT IS A SHORT RWY FOR AN INTXN TKOF. I HAD A CLIPBOARD ON MY LAP WITH CHARTS AND AN ARPT DIAGRAM. I TRIED TO ACCESS THE ARPT DIAGRAM AND THE WHOLE THING FELL OFF MY LAP ONTO THE FLOOR. THERE WERE NO ACFT IN FRONT OF ME ON TXWY W SO I LOOKED AND REACHED DOWN TRYING TO RETRIEVE THE FALLEN MATERIAL. WHILE MY HEAD WAS DOWN I APPARENTLY CROSSED TXWY S AND THE RWY 7R HOLD LINE. THE GND CTLR THEN CALLED FOR ME TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 7R. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AND DID NOT PENETRATE RWY 7R BUT WAS ACROSS THE HOLD LINE. THE HOLD SHORT DID NOT COME BEFORE I CROSSED THE HOLD LINE. ALSO I WOULD POINT OUT THAT I WAS NEVER INSTRUCTED TO GO FROM TXWY W TO TXWY S AND THEN TO RWY 7R. AFTER THE STOP THE GND CTLR HAD ME DO A 180 DEG TURN AND THEN TURNED ME ONTO TXWY S AND THEN TO RWY 7R END. A NORMAL DEP THEN FOLLOWED. I THINK THIS INCIDENT WAS DUE TO A TAXI CLRNC THAT WAS NOT COMPLETE. IN ADDITION I SHOULD NOT HAVE PUT MY HEAD DOWN TO RETRIEVE THE FALLEN MATERIAL. I WAS A TRANSIENT AT A VERY BUSY ARPT THAT HAS A LOT OF FLT SCHOOL ACTIVITY AND I THINK THE GND CTLR FELT THAT EVERYONE KNEW THAT THEY SHOULD GO FROM TXWY W TO TXWY S TO REACH THE END OF RWY 7R. TECHNICALLY I DIDN'T VIOLATE MY CLRNC, IE, TXWY W TO RWY 7R.
