Narrative:
Aircraft departed dtw with #3 generator MEL'ed inoperative. However once airborne, the so noted that #3 was still connected to the engine and thus still producing frequency and volts. This was not in compliance with the MEL procedure which requires it to be disconnected before flight. After consultation with maintenance control it was disconnected in-flight.

Title: GENERATOR PLACARDED AS INOP, BUT FOUND TO BE STILL CONNECTED.
Narrative: ACFT DEPARTED DTW WITH #3 GENERATOR MEL'ED INOP. HOWEVER ONCE AIRBORNE, THE SO NOTED THAT #3 WAS STILL CONNECTED TO THE ENG AND THUS STILL PRODUCING FREQ AND VOLTS. THIS WAS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE MEL PROC WHICH REQUIRES IT TO BE DISCONNECTED BEFORE FLT. AFTER CONSULTATION WITH MAINT CTL IT WAS DISCONNECTED INFLT.
