Narrative:
Adjusting VHF to call abc tower, looked up after 5-7 seconds inside cockpit and saw aircraft in sharp left turn away from my aircraft. I was getting ready to call for clearance through abc airport area into xyz. I had been monitoring frequency for 10 mins or so and was changing to transmit. Airport was very busy and I thought I had a good scan going.
