Narrative:
In sum: approximately 20 mi southeast of vky descending to 9000 ft. Altitude capture worked but autothrottle had been disconnected. As captain applied power at leveloff the nose pitched up and the aircraft climbed back up to 9400 ft as captain pushed nose over to stop the climb. I am not sure yet why, the aircraft climbed as power was applied at leveloff after descent but the power application resulted in a climb instead of airspeed maintenance. I will certainly monitor pitch more closely on all attitude and flight condition changes but am concerned as to why the autoplt reversed a descent to a climb upon initial throttle application. Perhaps I missed something. Would appreciate any feedback by those in the know.
