Narrative:
On may/xx/95 at approximately XA30 am while performing maintenance on aircraft I stuck a 6 inch extension 1/4 drive into the down lock gear pin hold of the nose landing door. I did this to protect myself in case the hydraulics came on, and from a possible communication breakdown with the others on the crew. Upon completion on my job I left the extension in the gear pin hole. The aircraft took off and when the nose landing gear would not retract the aircraft returned to the field.
