Narrative:
On a training flight, from fullerton (ful) to compton (cpm) the lax VOR was used to navigation clear of long beach class D. After some short pilotage computations I realized that I had flown through a section of long beach's airspace. Utilize flight following. Use more pilotage rather than relying on VOR facilities as much reliance on the VOR is what I believe was the problem.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL ERRONEOUSLY ENTERED CLASS D AIRSPACE.
Narrative: ON A TRAINING FLT, FROM FULLERTON (FUL) TO COMPTON (CPM) THE LAX VOR WAS USED TO NAV CLR OF LONG BEACH CLASS D. AFTER SOME SHORT PILOTAGE COMPUTATIONS I REALIZED THAT I HAD FLOWN THROUGH A SECTION OF LONG BEACH'S AIRSPACE. UTILIZE FLT FOLLOWING. USE MORE PILOTAGE RATHER THAN RELYING ON VOR FACILITIES AS MUCH RELIANCE ON THE VOR IS WHAT I BELIEVE WAS THE PROB.
