Pilot owner and safety pilot, in cherokee 140, made missed approach runway 2 westfield airport. Climbed runway heading to 700 ft MSL. Climbing left turn. Contacted bradley approach. Given heading 270 degrees. Still climbing, given heading 240 degrees, 2500 ft level flight heading 240 degrees. Aircraft not seen. Up-sun passed nose of our aircraft, seen by me instantly, dark blue and white cherokee 150 or 160. Bradley control gave no indication of aircraft in our vicinity (up-sun was hazy, down-sun very clear). Aircraft passed our nose at eye level.
