Narrative:
After landing in mia we taxied to spot 6. We were advised by ramp control to wait for 2 727's to taxi out of the alley. We shut down the left engine. Then we were cleared to go to the gate. We made a tight right 90 degree turn into using 35 percent N1 thrust. After the passenger had deplaned, a ramp supervisor advised me that we had blown over a baggage container, turning into the gate. He told me there was no physical damage, or injuries. I believe this incident could be prevented in the future by not shutting down the engine when assigned this gate.
