Narrative:
Departed tpl approximately 35 mi south of destination, act. WX clear, good visibility. Descending from 6000 ft MSL. Act approach told us to call act airport in sight, airport 12 O'clock. The captain told me he had the airport in sight 12 O'clock. I saw an airport, 12 O'clock, 2 mi. Reported airport in sight to approach. Approach told us to contact act tower. We called act tower and were told to report right downwind for runway 19. I told act tower that we are on a right downwind for runway 19 now. We were high on downwind descending through 3000 ft while turning base. Reported to act tower turning base. Tower told us to continue downwind. We responded we are on base approaching final. Tower said 'is your position 6 mi southwest of the field?' I responded '6 mi north of field, turning final.' tower told us 'that is mcgreggor airport, turn left, enter downwind for runway 19 at waco.' we did and then landed at waco with no further incidents.
