Narrative:
Arrived lax at dusk PM20 hours. Had briefed for ILS runway 24R. Reclred stadium visual runway 24R, over oil wells. Turned south at 9 DME smo 068 degree radial. I set my VOR to 084 degree radial, copilot flying. Started turn over radial. I was watching another aircraft approach from my left, TCASII warning yellow. We overshot runways 24R and 25L. Approach gave an immediate turn to 290 degrees, speed was around 200 KTS at this time. I should not have accepted this approach as we had no time to brief. Had not flown it in a long time and then in a smaller airplane. Same for my copilot. Turning in at the 084 degree radial is too late. Visibility was not good turning west. I have seen more conflicts here than any other airport in the country.
