Narrative:
I was in left seat, PNF, and allowing copilot to fly ferry leg from crq to slc. Approaching slc we were given holding instructions to hold ffu VOR 170 degree radial south, right turns at FL200. Enter holding early to avoid thunderstorm cell over ffu VOR. Started right turn from direct entry and observed another small cell close off left wing. Advised ATC of early entry and also requested left turns in pattern to avoid cell close to r-hand pattern. ATC approved left turns in pattern and requested a good rate of descent to 17000 ft MSL to get us below other traffic. Upon approaching 17000 ft we encountered turbulence and some wind shear causing an increased sink rate through 17000 ft (about 340 ft below 17000 ft before recovering back to altitude). ATC did not make any response to altitude incursion. They were very busy with a great volume of arrival traffic. We did not advise of turbulence and windshear because of continuous communication on frequency.

Title: CPR FLC OVERSHOT ASSIGNED DSCNT ALT.
Narrative: I WAS IN L SEAT, PNF, AND ALLOWING COPLT TO FLY FERRY LEG FROM CRQ TO SLC. APCHING SLC WE WERE GIVEN HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD FFU VOR 170 DEG RADIAL S, R TURNS AT FL200. ENTER HOLDING EARLY TO AVOID TSTM CELL OVER FFU VOR. STARTED R TURN FROM DIRECT ENTRY AND OBSERVED ANOTHER SMALL CELL CLOSE OFF L WING. ADVISED ATC OF EARLY ENTRY AND ALSO REQUESTED L TURNS IN PATTERN TO AVOID CELL CLOSE TO R-HAND PATTERN. ATC APPROVED L TURNS IN PATTERN AND REQUESTED A GOOD RATE OF DSCNT TO 17000 FT MSL TO GET US BELOW OTHER TFC. UPON APCHING 17000 FT WE ENCOUNTERED TURB AND SOME WIND SHEAR CAUSING AN INCREASED SINK RATE THROUGH 17000 FT (ABOUT 340 FT BELOW 17000 FT BEFORE RECOVERING BACK TO ALT). ATC DID NOT MAKE ANY RESPONSE TO ALT INCURSION. THEY WERE VERY BUSY WITH A GREAT VOLUME OF ARR TFC. WE DID NOT ADVISE OF TURB AND WINDSHEAR BECAUSE OF CONTINUOUS COM ON FREQ.
