Narrative:
Descending into modesto on the visual approach, tower called traffic turning final for runway 28R. I looked and found the traffic. A few moments later, the first officer pointed out opposite direction traffic under our nose about 500 ft below us. I saw the traffic immediately but no conflict was imminent nor was evasive action necessary. This traffic was not previously called out for us, (not sure).

Title: NMAC BTWN AN LTT DSNDING ON A VISUAL APCH AND ANOTHER ACFT CLBING OUT.
Narrative: DSNDING INTO MODESTO ON THE VISUAL APCH, TWR CALLED TFC TURNING FINAL FOR RWY 28R. I LOOKED AND FOUND THE TFC. A FEW MOMENTS LATER, THE FO POINTED OUT OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC UNDER OUR NOSE ABOUT 500 FT BELOW US. I SAW THE TFC IMMEDIATELY BUT NO CONFLICT WAS IMMINENT NOR WAS EVASIVE ACTION NECESSARY. THIS TFC WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY CALLED OUT FOR US, (NOT SURE).
