Narrative:
I was speaking to ZBW and they asked which type of approach I wanted. I said 'visual.' they then cleared me for the visual so I started my descent. Boston then asked why I was descending. I said you cleared me. He said yes he did but I could not descend until the airport was in sight. I canceled the IFR and continued my descent.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA TWIN STARTED DSCNT EARLY AFTER CLRED ON AN IFR FLT PLAN FOR A VISUAL APCH.
Narrative: I WAS SPEAKING TO ZBW AND THEY ASKED WHICH TYPE OF APCH I WANTED. I SAID 'VISUAL.' THEY THEN CLRED ME FOR THE VISUAL SO I STARTED MY DSCNT. BOSTON THEN ASKED WHY I WAS DSNDING. I SAID YOU CLRED ME. HE SAID YES HE DID BUT I COULD NOT DSND UNTIL THE ARPT WAS IN SIGHT. I CANCELED THE IFR AND CONTINUED MY DSCNT.
