Narrative:

Ewr tower gave 'position and hold, caution turbulence from departing A300.' we read back and complied. After a period of holding in position, ewr tower told us to hold for crossing aircraft downfield, then asked us to taxi off the runway and when asked why after we were clear, he said he didn't remember giving us clearance to position and hold. After that, operation was normal.

Title: CLRNC CANCELED -- ACR IS TOLD TO TAXI OFF OF RWY BECAUSE THE LCL CTLR COULD NOT RECALL CLRING IT ON TO THE RWY.

Narrative: EWR TWR GAVE 'POS AND HOLD, CAUTION TURB FROM DEPARTING A300.' WE READ BACK AND COMPLIED. AFTER A PERIOD OF HOLDING IN POS, EWR TWR TOLD US TO HOLD FOR XING ACFT DOWNFIELD, THEN ASKED US TO TAXI OFF THE RWY AND WHEN ASKED WHY AFTER WE WERE CLR, HE SAID HE DIDN'T REMEMBER GIVING US CLRNC TO POS AND HOLD. AFTER THAT, OP WAS NORMAL.
