Narrative:
On takeoff and climb out, #2 engine overtemped. As I retarded power lever, engine began to surge. Suspect compressor stall. Engine stabilized at lower power setting. Returned to departure airport for precautionary landing. Declared emergency. No injuries or damage noted.
