Narrative:

The warrior was parked in the middle of a tie down area characterized as 2 rows each with planes tied down back to back. The tie down area is serviced by 2 outer txwys and 1 center taxiway. The center taxiway is approximately 40 ft wide. The pilot taxied out of tie down space (xx) toward the northeast in the center taxiway. He did not adequately see or recognize or take into account that the cessna was tied down approximately 2.5 ft more toward the taxiway centerline than the other planes along the left edge of the taxiway. The left wingtip of the warrior contacted the spinner of the cessna. The cessna spinner was approximately 19 ft from the painted taxiway centerline. The cessna was tied such that the wing tie down rings on the plane were approximately 2.5 ft to the southeast of (toward taxiway centerline) their corresponding anchor points on the ground. The pilot felt a very slight motion as he taxied. He looked back from the end of the taxiway (when he could first turn the plane to observe the area) and he believed he could see an indentation in the taxiway pavement which accounted for the slight unevenness of the taxi. At no time did the pilot even suspect he might have struck another plane. After 6 touch and goes in the pattern, the pilot landed full stop (at the tower's request) to wait for a number of incoming planes to arrive before continuing his practice session. At this time he first became aware of the contact during the earlier taxi. The pilot then suspended operations for the day.

Title: PVT PLT STRUCK A PARKED ACFT DURING TAXI FROM PARKING.

Narrative: THE WARRIOR WAS PARKED IN THE MIDDLE OF A TIE DOWN AREA CHARACTERIZED AS 2 ROWS EACH WITH PLANES TIED DOWN BACK TO BACK. THE TIE DOWN AREA IS SERVICED BY 2 OUTER TXWYS AND 1 CTR TXWY. THE CTR TXWY IS APPROX 40 FT WIDE. THE PLT TAXIED OUT OF TIE DOWN SPACE (XX) TOWARD THE NE IN THE CTR TXWY. HE DID NOT ADEQUATELY SEE OR RECOGNIZE OR TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THAT THE CESSNA WAS TIED DOWN APPROX 2.5 FT MORE TOWARD THE TXWY CTRLINE THAN THE OTHER PLANES ALONG THE L EDGE OF THE TXWY. THE L WINGTIP OF THE WARRIOR CONTACTED THE SPINNER OF THE CESSNA. THE CESSNA SPINNER WAS APPROX 19 FT FROM THE PAINTED TXWY CTRLINE. THE CESSNA WAS TIED SUCH THAT THE WING TIE DOWN RINGS ON THE PLANE WERE APPROX 2.5 FT TO THE SE OF (TOWARD TXWY CTRLINE) THEIR CORRESPONDING ANCHOR POINTS ON THE GND. THE PLT FELT A VERY SLIGHT MOTION AS HE TAXIED. HE LOOKED BACK FROM THE END OF THE TXWY (WHEN HE COULD FIRST TURN THE PLANE TO OBSERVE THE AREA) AND HE BELIEVED HE COULD SEE AN INDENTATION IN THE TXWY PAVEMENT WHICH ACCOUNTED FOR THE SLIGHT UNEVENNESS OF THE TAXI. AT NO TIME DID THE PLT EVEN SUSPECT HE MIGHT HAVE STRUCK ANOTHER PLANE. AFTER 6 TOUCH AND GOES IN THE PATTERN, THE PLT LANDED FULL STOP (AT THE TWR'S REQUEST) TO WAIT FOR A NUMBER OF INCOMING PLANES TO ARRIVE BEFORE CONTINUING HIS PRACTICE SESSION. AT THIS TIME HE FIRST BECAME AWARE OF THE CONTACT DURING THE EARLIER TAXI. THE PLT THEN SUSPENDED OPS FOR THE DAY.
