Narrative:

Upon landing on runway 17L at dfw, I understood we were cleared to cross runway 17R at taxiway el. I called for first officer to feather left propeller as we were crossing. First officer was completing after landing checklist and jotting down landing time on clipboard. Just as I reached hold line, first officer called 'hold short!' I slammed on brakes. Aircraft stopped with 1/2 of aircraft over hold line but still short of runway 17R. While I was at fault, I feel if I had read back to first officer the clearance I heard, we could have caught my error. My rate of taxi and calling for feather, something I only do when I no longer will be holding short of runway, should have been a clue to first officer. Also, first officer having head in cockpit doing checklist and writing didn't help.

Title: AN ACR CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE.

Narrative: UPON LNDG ON RWY 17L AT DFW, I UNDERSTOOD WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 17R AT TXWY EL. I CALLED FOR FO TO FEATHER L PROP AS WE WERE XING. FO WAS COMPLETING AFTER LNDG CHKLIST AND JOTTING DOWN LNDG TIME ON CLIPBOARD. JUST AS I REACHED HOLD LINE, FO CALLED 'HOLD SHORT!' I SLAMMED ON BRAKES. ACFT STOPPED WITH 1/2 OF ACFT OVER HOLD LINE BUT STILL SHORT OF RWY 17R. WHILE I WAS AT FAULT, I FEEL IF I HAD READ BACK TO FO THE CLRNC I HEARD, WE COULD HAVE CAUGHT MY ERROR. MY RATE OF TAXI AND CALLING FOR FEATHER, SOMETHING I ONLY DO WHEN I NO LONGER WILL BE HOLDING SHORT OF RWY, SHOULD HAVE BEEN A CLUE TO FO. ALSO, FO HAVING HEAD IN COCKPIT DOING CHKLIST AND WRITING DIDN'T HELP.
