Narrative:
I was departing south jersey regional (7MY) on a VFR day. The taxiway for runway 08 at this airport ends about 2/3 of the way down the runway and aircraft must back-taxi on the active to reach the end for a full length takeoff. While I was doing my runup procedure at the end of the taxiway, a bonanza departed runway 08. After runup, I checked the downwind, base, and final approach position and then called my back-taxi on the unicom. After back-taxiing for a few seconds, I spotted the bonanza turning base to final and heard his radio call. I made several radio calls to the bonanza and he finally initiated a go around. As a precaution, I taxied off the runway onto the grass. His go around was successful and I taxied back and departed without further problems. I don't believe the bonanza's pilot made calls on the downwind and base legs. However, it was my responsibility to see his aircraft and not impede his pattern operations while taxiing. In the future, I'll be sure to scan the problem even more carefully before taxiing onto an active runway.

Title: SMA BACK TAXIING FOR TKOF SIGHTS ACFT TURNING FINAL, TAXIES ONTO GRASS.
Narrative: I WAS DEPARTING S JERSEY REGIONAL (7MY) ON A VFR DAY. THE TXWY FOR RWY 08 AT THIS ARPT ENDS ABOUT 2/3 OF THE WAY DOWN THE RWY AND ACFT MUST BACK-TAXI ON THE ACTIVE TO REACH THE END FOR A FULL LENGTH TKOF. WHILE I WAS DOING MY RUNUP PROC AT THE END OF THE TXWY, A BONANZA DEPARTED RWY 08. AFTER RUNUP, I CHKED THE DOWNWIND, BASE, AND FINAL APCH POS AND THEN CALLED MY BACK-TAXI ON THE UNICOM. AFTER BACK-TAXIING FOR A FEW SECONDS, I SPOTTED THE BONANZA TURNING BASE TO FINAL AND HEARD HIS RADIO CALL. I MADE SEVERAL RADIO CALLS TO THE BONANZA AND HE FINALLY INITIATED A GAR. AS A PRECAUTION, I TAXIED OFF THE RWY ONTO THE GRASS. HIS GAR WAS SUCCESSFUL AND I TAXIED BACK AND DEPARTED WITHOUT FURTHER PROBS. I DON'T BELIEVE THE BONANZA'S PLT MADE CALLS ON THE DOWNWIND AND BASE LEGS. HOWEVER, IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO SEE HIS ACFT AND NOT IMPEDE HIS PATTERN OPS WHILE TAXIING. IN THE FUTURE, I'LL BE SURE TO SCAN THE PROB EVEN MORE CAREFULLY BEFORE TAXIING ONTO AN ACTIVE RWY.
