Narrative:
On a flight from ion to jamestown, ny at toledo, oh WX seemed to indicate a change of route along the shoreline of lake erie. Thunderstorms and WX seemed likely to block our planned route. At tol, we proceeded to sandusky, oh and called cle approach and got a clearance to proceed at or below 2500 ft along the shoreline. About halfway up the shoreline, we saw a large number of boats like a regatta. Approach said nothing and we proceeded on where no controller complained in any way. The next day, I remember another case where temporary flight restr at regatta. It hit me we forgot to check NOTAMS for the new route. I do not think there are any restr or the controller should have said something before giving a clearance into class B. I should have double-checked FSS before changing my route. In the complete review of the flight, I realized I was much closer to cuyahoga air traffic area then expected although I do not believe I clipped their airspace. A call would have been better procedure.

Title: AMPHIBIAN PLT CRUISING ALONG THE SHORELINE SIGHTS REGATTA. CONCERNED IF THERE MIGHT BE A NOTAM FOR RESTR AIRSPACE.
Narrative: ON A FLT FROM ION TO JAMESTOWN, NY AT TOLEDO, OH WX SEEMED TO INDICATE A CHANGE OF RTE ALONG THE SHORELINE OF LAKE ERIE. TSTMS AND WX SEEMED LIKELY TO BLOCK OUR PLANNED RTE. AT TOL, WE PROCEEDED TO SANDUSKY, OH AND CALLED CLE APCH AND GOT A CLRNC TO PROCEED AT OR BELOW 2500 FT ALONG THE SHORELINE. ABOUT HALFWAY UP THE SHORELINE, WE SAW A LARGE NUMBER OF BOATS LIKE A REGATTA. APCH SAID NOTHING AND WE PROCEEDED ON WHERE NO CTLR COMPLAINED IN ANY WAY. THE NEXT DAY, I REMEMBER ANOTHER CASE WHERE TEMPORARY FLT RESTR AT REGATTA. IT HIT ME WE FORGOT TO CHK NOTAMS FOR THE NEW RTE. I DO NOT THINK THERE ARE ANY RESTR OR THE CTLR SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING BEFORE GIVING A CLRNC INTO CLASS B. I SHOULD HAVE DOUBLE-CHKED FSS BEFORE CHANGING MY RTE. IN THE COMPLETE REVIEW OF THE FLT, I REALIZED I WAS MUCH CLOSER TO CUYAHOGA ATA THEN EXPECTED ALTHOUGH I DO NOT BELIEVE I CLIPPED THEIR AIRSPACE. A CALL WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER PROC.
