Narrative:
We were in a PA-44-180 (seminole) at 8000 ft MSL sbound about 10 NM northwest of centennial airport. A small cessna (single-engine) passed under us about a hundred ft lower. Immediately the pilot of the cessna said on frequency that he saw us ('I have the traffic'). We were never given a TA. The controller then came on and asked if anyone on 128.45 could hear him. A couple of aircraft (including ourselves) replied that we could. It seemed like he might have been covering up his mistake.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMA TWIN HAS NMAC WITH SMA SINGLE WHILE IN THE CLASS B AIRSPACE.
Narrative: WE WERE IN A PA-44-180 (SEMINOLE) AT 8000 FT MSL SBOUND ABOUT 10 NM NW OF CENTENNIAL ARPT. A SMALL CESSNA (SINGLE-ENG) PASSED UNDER US ABOUT A HUNDRED FT LOWER. IMMEDIATELY THE PLT OF THE CESSNA SAID ON FREQ THAT HE SAW US ('I HAVE THE TFC'). WE WERE NEVER GIVEN A TA. THE CTLR THEN CAME ON AND ASKED IF ANYONE ON 128.45 COULD HEAR HIM. A COUPLE OF ACFT (INCLUDING OURSELVES) REPLIED THAT WE COULD. IT SEEMED LIKE HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN COVERING UP HIS MISTAKE.
