Narrative:
En route from pittsburg to portland, I diverted to sioux falls due to a medical emergency, involving one of our passenger. On descent into fsd, first officer advised me that we would be making an overweight landing (118600-114000 maximum landing weight). I briefed and flew the approach and landing according to company policy. The touchdown was very smooth and I used all of runway (9000 ft) on rollout to minimize heat and wear on brakes. We inquired as to maintenance available, for inspection of aircraft after overweight landing. We were informed it was contract maintenance, no part 121 maintenance available. I decided not to call maintenance, until I talked to our company. After talking to our company dispatcher, about the situation, it was suggested I write-up the overweight landing -- en route from fsd to pdx. I unwisely followed his suggestion and wrote up the landing en route to portland. Several things probably influenced my decision: credibility of maintenance available. Stress. Decision to divert to off line airport. Getting aircraft on the ground quickly -- but having to get cabin altitude down at a comfortable rate. Condition of ailing passenger. Getting released to pdx and getting refueled properly. Welfare of other passenger and crew. In retrospect, I should have insisted that the aircraft be inspected and signed off, before continuing our flight to portland.

Title: FLC DIVERTED FOR ILL PAX AND MADE AN OVERWT LNDG AND THEN TOOK OFF WITHOUT PRESCRIBED OVERWT LNDG INSPECTION.
Narrative: ENRTE FROM PITTSBURG TO PORTLAND, I DIVERTED TO SIOUX FALLS DUE TO A MEDICAL EMER, INVOLVING ONE OF OUR PAX. ON DSCNT INTO FSD, FO ADVISED ME THAT WE WOULD BE MAKING AN OVERWT LNDG (118600-114000 MAX LNDG WT). I BRIEFED AND FLEW THE APCH AND LNDG ACCORDING TO COMPANY POLICY. THE TOUCHDOWN WAS VERY SMOOTH AND I USED ALL OF RWY (9000 FT) ON ROLLOUT TO MINIMIZE HEAT AND WEAR ON BRAKES. WE INQUIRED AS TO MAINT AVAILABLE, FOR INSPECTION OF ACFT AFTER OVERWT LNDG. WE WERE INFORMED IT WAS CONTRACT MAINT, NO PART 121 MAINT AVAILABLE. I DECIDED NOT TO CALL MAINT, UNTIL I TALKED TO OUR COMPANY. AFTER TALKING TO OUR COMPANY DISPATCHER, ABOUT THE SIT, IT WAS SUGGESTED I WRITE-UP THE OVERWT LNDG -- ENRTE FROM FSD TO PDX. I UNWISELY FOLLOWED HIS SUGGESTION AND WROTE UP THE LNDG ENRTE TO PORTLAND. SEVERAL THINGS PROBABLY INFLUENCED MY DECISION: CREDIBILITY OF MAINT AVAILABLE. STRESS. DECISION TO DIVERT TO OFF LINE ARPT. GETTING ACFT ON THE GND QUICKLY -- BUT HAVING TO GET CABIN ALT DOWN AT A COMFORTABLE RATE. CONDITION OF AILING PAX. GETTING RELEASED TO PDX AND GETTING REFUELED PROPERLY. WELFARE OF OTHER PAX AND CREW. IN RETROSPECT, I SHOULD HAVE INSISTED THAT THE ACFT BE INSPECTED AND SIGNED OFF, BEFORE CONTINUING OUR FLT TO PORTLAND.
