Narrative:
Approaching seatac airport from the southwest, approach control instructed us to proceed to the mall (mall visual approach), maintain 3000 ft until the mall and contact tower over the mall. Also ATC instructed us to maintain visual separation with company approaching from the southeast. They were for runway 34R and we were cleared for the visual runway 34L. Upon landing and waiting to cross runway 34R, approach instructed us to contact the tower. That's when the captain and I realized we had landed without contacting the tower and a landing clearance. The captain later contacted the tower by phone and tower said 'don't worry about it, it happens from time-to-time and there was no conflict.' supplemental information from acn 315361: after sighting the airport and another aircraft. We then began to concentrate on the other aircraft. There was a fair amount of radio chatter. Both aircraft intercepted final at the mall at approximately the same time. We made a mistake. No excuse. We became distracted by radio chatter and the other aircraft flying next to us.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LAND WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: APCHING SEATAC ARPT FROM THE SW, APCH CTL INSTRUCTED US TO PROCEED TO THE MALL (MALL VISUAL APCH), MAINTAIN 3000 FT UNTIL THE MALL AND CONTACT TWR OVER THE MALL. ALSO ATC INSTRUCTED US TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION WITH COMPANY APCHING FROM THE SE. THEY WERE FOR RWY 34R AND WE WERE CLRED FOR THE VISUAL RWY 34L. UPON LNDG AND WAITING TO CROSS RWY 34R, APCH INSTRUCTED US TO CONTACT THE TWR. THAT'S WHEN THE CAPT AND I REALIZED WE HAD LANDED WITHOUT CONTACTING THE TWR AND A LNDG CLRNC. THE CAPT LATER CONTACTED THE TWR BY PHONE AND TWR SAID 'DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, IT HAPPENS FROM TIME-TO-TIME AND THERE WAS NO CONFLICT.' SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 315361: AFTER SIGHTING THE ARPT AND ANOTHER ACFT. WE THEN BEGAN TO CONCENTRATE ON THE OTHER ACFT. THERE WAS A FAIR AMOUNT OF RADIO CHATTER. BOTH ACFT INTERCEPTED FINAL AT THE MALL AT APPROX THE SAME TIME. WE MADE A MISTAKE. NO EXCUSE. WE BECAME DISTRACTED BY RADIO CHATTER AND THE OTHER ACFT FLYING NEXT TO US.
