Narrative:
Departed runway 5 at 44J spruce creek airport and turned left while calling ATC to pick up IFR clearance. Aircraft entered class C airspace before clearance was issued. Controller brought this to my attention. This turn resulted in entering class C airspace before establishing radio contact. There was no apparent traffic conflict. This event was caused by unfamiliarity with the area (I arrived at night while IFR) and by inadequate preflight planning. I did not expect to enter class C so quickly after departure.

Title: ERRONEOUS PENETRATION OF CLASS C AIRSPACE PRIOR TO CLRNC.
Narrative: DEPARTED RWY 5 AT 44J SPRUCE CREEK ARPT AND TURNED L WHILE CALLING ATC TO PICK UP IFR CLRNC. ACFT ENTERED CLASS C AIRSPACE BEFORE CLRNC WAS ISSUED. CTLR BROUGHT THIS TO MY ATTN. THIS TURN RESULTED IN ENTERING CLASS C AIRSPACE BEFORE ESTABLISHING RADIO CONTACT. THERE WAS NO APPARENT TFC CONFLICT. THIS EVENT WAS CAUSED BY UNFAMILIARITY WITH THE AREA (I ARRIVED AT NIGHT WHILE IFR) AND BY INADEQUATE PREFLT PLANNING. I DID NOT EXPECT TO ENTER CLASS C SO QUICKLY AFTER DEP.
