Narrative:
After rollout at lax, approach control called and instructed us to contact tower. There was no traffic conflict and tower simply said to contact ground controller for taxi. Apparently the radio did not switch and 'cleared for approach' response from approach was misunderstood as 'cleared to land.'
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LAND WITHOUT CLRNC.
Narrative: AFTER ROLLOUT AT LAX, APCH CTL CALLED AND INSTRUCTED US TO CONTACT TWR. THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT AND TWR SIMPLY SAID TO CONTACT GND CTLR FOR TAXI. APPARENTLY THE RADIO DID NOT SWITCH AND 'CLRED FOR APCH' RESPONSE FROM APCH WAS MISUNDERSTOOD AS 'CLRED TO LAND.'
