Narrative:
Cruising at FL310 about 70 mi north of LOA, also deviating around WX, we were given a turn south back towards aus. ATC had been trying to contact another aircraft about a descent and after we had been on the heading about 20 mi ATC asked us to turn immediately 40 degrees left. We had noticed the other aircraft on TCASII and entered the turn quickly. TCASII issued a climb RA which we followed to about 31500 ft before it cleared and we returned to altitude. After telling ATC, who was very busy with this other aircraft, he seemed thankful for our help. The controller did a great job and the TCASII was invaluable in this incident.
