Narrative:
While established on the localizer for runway 4R in boston we were told to stop descent and level at 7000 ft for a VFR aircraft under IFR control to cross below us. Controller called out the traffic which we had visually and were told he had us visually. TCASII still gave a RA. We ended up being several hundred ft high on the ILS. This VFR aircraft should have been vectored several mi south of the boston arrival corridor and the TCA.
