Narrative:
While conducting a training flight at jefferson county airport, co (bjc), we were cleared to takeoff runway 29R by tower. Takeoff was continuing normally until we crested the hump in the middle of the runway. I then noticed a C206 taxiing opposite direction down the center of the runway, pretty much at the last 1/3 of the runway, at which time we achieved rotation speed VMC +5 92 mph. Climb out was normal and it appeared we cleared aircraft by about 100 ft. We informed tower and they were apparently unaware of the taxiing aircraft. The C206 did not appear to take evasive action. I called tower manager and gave statement. Apparently he reported it was a controller error and there is an investigation.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMT ON TKOF ROLL RWY 29R SIGHTED A C206 TAXIING OPPOSITE DIRECTION ON RWY 11L. SMT WAS AT ROTATION SPD AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TKOF, PASSING OVER THE TOP OF THE CESSNA BY 100 FT. LATER CONVERSATION WITH THE TWR INDICATED THAT IT WAS A SYS ERROR.
Narrative: WHILE CONDUCTING A TRAINING FLT AT JEFFERSON COUNTY ARPT, CO (BJC), WE WERE CLRED TO TKOF RWY 29R BY TWR. TKOF WAS CONTINUING NORMALLY UNTIL WE CRESTED THE HUMP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RWY. I THEN NOTICED A C206 TAXIING OPPOSITE DIRECTION DOWN THE CTR OF THE RWY, PRETTY MUCH AT THE LAST 1/3 OF THE RWY, AT WHICH TIME WE ACHIEVED ROTATION SPD VMC +5 92 MPH. CLBOUT WAS NORMAL AND IT APPEARED WE CLRED ACFT BY ABOUT 100 FT. WE INFORMED TWR AND THEY WERE APPARENTLY UNAWARE OF THE TAXIING ACFT. THE C206 DID NOT APPEAR TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. I CALLED TWR MGR AND GAVE STATEMENT. APPARENTLY HE RPTED IT WAS A CTLR ERROR AND THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION.
