Narrative:
Departure off rdu satellite with a bad departure route, turn sbound into the face of climbing traffic off of clt nebound. Normal wbound departures never turn south. A very busy sector at the time it took place and the route was not read in its entirety. TCASII maneuver by the air carrier made the situation worse. He was cleared to descend and the lear was cleared to climb. The air carrier instead climbed so both climbed almost into each other.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CTLR RPTED A LOSS OF SEPARATION INVOLVING AN ACR JET AND A LEARJET ON A BAD DEP RTE. RPTR CLBED THE LEAR AND DSNDED THE ACR. THE ACR PERFORMED A TCASII CLB. BOTH ACFT WERE CLBING TOWARD EACH OTHER.
Narrative: DEP OFF RDU SATELLITE WITH A BAD DEP RTE, TURN SBOUND INTO THE FACE OF CLBING TFC OFF OF CLT NEBOUND. NORMAL WBOUND DEPS NEVER TURN S. A VERY BUSY SECTOR AT THE TIME IT TOOK PLACE AND THE RTE WAS NOT READ IN ITS ENTIRETY. TCASII MANEUVER BY THE ACR MADE THE SIT WORSE. HE WAS CLRED TO DSND AND THE LEAR WAS CLRED TO CLB. THE ACR INSTEAD CLBED SO BOTH CLBED ALMOST INTO EACH OTHER.
