After takeoff from ord nose gear would not retract. Cycled landing gear per operations manual but nose remained down with red unsafe light and audible. Returned to land ord.

Title: AFTER TKOF NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. ABNORMAL PROCS COMPLIED WITH -- ATTEMPTED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO CYCLE THE GEAR. RETURN AND LAND.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF FROM ORD NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT. CYCLED LNDG GEAR PER OPS MANUAL BUT NOSE REMAINED DOWN WITH RED UNSAFE LIGHT AND AUDIBLE. RETURNED TO LAND ORD.
