Narrative:
Aircraft had new type glareshield installed. This unit does not bend down over flight director. This makes use of the standby compass system very difficult if not impossible due to glareshield blocking mirror. The visibility out the forward and center windows is reduced in area approximately 10-15 percent from pilot seats. I have been advised by maintenance several times that engineering was aware of the problem and was in the process of correcting it. My first contact with maintenance on this issue was sep/xx/95. Please inform me as to the status of this new type glareshield.
