Narrative:
Climbing out of sby the crew door on the pilot's side popped open. I instructed the copilot take the airplane as I shut the door and latched it. I took the controls back and instructed the copilot that I was going to return back to the field to land to check the security of the door. The door was ok. We then departed uneventful to our destination. The events that led up to this was being rushed and improper use of the checklist, poor CRM, and poor crew coordination.
