Narrative:
After performing run-up I was cleared for takeoff (runway 9L at ptk, mi). As I was taxiing onto the runway I attempted to turn left onto the centerline. Approximately midway through the turn the aircraft kept going straight. I was unable to control the aircraft and no response from left pedal and weak brakes. The airplane went off the runway. With help from airport officials we pushed aircraft back to run-up area and was towed back to tie-down. The only external observation I noticed was fluid leaking from right brake. Aircraft was then red tagged.
