Narrative:
I thought I had received a clearance from ZAB to maneuver between the tus and gbn vors. They were advised we were doing a test flight and had been maneuvering in that airspace for approximately 30 mins. About 2 mins prior to completing the test flight, ZAB said please call when we land about a possible conflict. I called after landing and the controller supervisor said we just took the controller by surprise during our last turn and possibly missed a radio call from center. The supervisor said no problem, but just try to be a little more attentive. The ATC supervisor was most cordial. Communication was difficult because of a new copilot and 2 mechanics in the cockpit -- one training the other. No TCASII alert.
