Narrative:
The flight from pne to fnt was uneventful until the approach to fnt. On approach into fnt the landing gear was lowered. Indication was left main and nose gear green lights, right main red light with red light in the gear handle flashing. Hydraulic pressure and quantity was normal. Recycled gear up, retracted normally. Recycled gear down, same unsafe indications. Retracted gear and received vectors to dtw. At dtw requested landing on runway 3R due to winds. This would allow for touchdown on left main first. Prior to approach, we briefed the passenger and went over the checklist. Prior to the approach we tried 1 more normal extension, with same unsafe indications. Then ran the landing gear abnormal extension checklist. Left main and nose gear were green, right main was red and the red light in the handle was not flashing. Flaps extended to full. Unsilenceable landing gear warning horn sounded. Retracted flaps to 30 degrees and performed a tower fly-by. Tower indicated landing gear visual appeared normal. Returned to landing sequence. Lowered flaps to full, got unsilenceable horn. Right main indicator still red. Completed normal landing checklist. Touched down on left main then nose and when right wing was lowered, right gear collapsed. Aircraft stayed on centerline until rudder effectiveness was lost. At that point aircraft began to slide to the right and departed the runway sliding sideways and coming to a stop. Egressed aircraft with no complications. No injuries. Suspected internal failure of landing gear actuator.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: R MAIN LNDG GEAR COLLAPSED DURING LNDG OF AN LTT CPR JET.
Narrative: THE FLT FROM PNE TO FNT WAS UNEVENTFUL UNTIL THE APCH TO FNT. ON APCH INTO FNT THE LNDG GEAR WAS LOWERED. INDICATION WAS L MAIN AND NOSE GEAR GREEN LIGHTS, R MAIN RED LIGHT WITH RED LIGHT IN THE GEAR HANDLE FLASHING. HYD PRESSURE AND QUANTITY WAS NORMAL. RECYCLED GEAR UP, RETRACTED NORMALLY. RECYCLED GEAR DOWN, SAME UNSAFE INDICATIONS. RETRACTED GEAR AND RECEIVED VECTORS TO DTW. AT DTW REQUESTED LNDG ON RWY 3R DUE TO WINDS. THIS WOULD ALLOW FOR TOUCHDOWN ON L MAIN FIRST. PRIOR TO APCH, WE BRIEFED THE PAX AND WENT OVER THE CHKLIST. PRIOR TO THE APCH WE TRIED 1 MORE NORMAL EXTENSION, WITH SAME UNSAFE INDICATIONS. THEN RAN THE LNDG GEAR ABNORMAL EXTENSION CHKLIST. L MAIN AND NOSE GEAR WERE GREEN, R MAIN WAS RED AND THE RED LIGHT IN THE HANDLE WAS NOT FLASHING. FLAPS EXTENDED TO FULL. UNSILENCEABLE LNDG GEAR WARNING HORN SOUNDED. RETRACTED FLAPS TO 30 DEGS AND PERFORMED A TWR FLY-BY. TWR INDICATED LNDG GEAR VISUAL APPEARED NORMAL. RETURNED TO LNDG SEQUENCE. LOWERED FLAPS TO FULL, GOT UNSILENCEABLE HORN. R MAIN INDICATOR STILL RED. COMPLETED NORMAL LNDG CHKLIST. TOUCHED DOWN ON L MAIN THEN NOSE AND WHEN R WING WAS LOWERED, R GEAR COLLAPSED. ACFT STAYED ON CTRLINE UNTIL RUDDER EFFECTIVENESS WAS LOST. AT THAT POINT ACFT BEGAN TO SLIDE TO THE R AND DEPARTED THE RWY SLIDING SIDEWAYS AND COMING TO A STOP. EGRESSED ACFT WITH NO COMPLICATIONS. NO INJURIES. SUSPECTED INTERNAL FAILURE OF LNDG GEAR ACTUATOR.
