Narrative:
ATC cleared me from FL270 to FL250. I dialed in FL240 on altitude alerter. ATC picked it up at FL246 then cleared me to FL240. I assumed no conflict. I normally receive clearance to FL240 for frequency change. Just didn't pay attention.

Narrative: ATC CLRED ME FROM FL270 TO FL250. I DIALED IN FL240 ON ALT ALERTER. ATC PICKED IT UP AT FL246 THEN CLRED ME TO FL240. I ASSUMED NO CONFLICT. I NORMALLY RECEIVE CLRNC TO FL240 FOR FREQ CHANGE. JUST DIDN'T PAY ATTN.
