Narrative:

We were cleared to takeoff on runway 21C at dfw. A B747 had landed on runway 21L and taxied on runway 27L wbound. We were not told about that, so when we commenced our takeoff roll we were confronted with what looked like, a widebody transport crossing in front of us. Runway 21C does not intersect with runway 27L but from our low perspective it was alarming, and not having the airport diagram in front of me (the SID instead), I decided to abort (at 100 KTS), with tenerife and dtw's reputation of runway incursions racing through my mind. No injuries or damage occurred, but we would have taken off directly over a loaded B747. What if: an engine failure, a late abort! I strongly recommend holding departing traffic for aircraft crossing and not allow departing traffic to takeoff over parked, taxiing aircraft.

Title: B737 ABORTED TKOF BECAUSE OF B747 XING FLT PATH.

NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE OCCURRED, BUT WE WOULD HAVE TAKEN OFF DIRECTLY OVER A LOADED B747. WHAT IF: AN ENG FAILURE, A LATE ABORT! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HOLDING DEPARTING TFC FOR ACFT XING AND NOT ALLOW DEPARTING TFC TO TKOF OVER PARKED, TAXIING ACFT.
