Narrative:
On takeoff roll on runway 4 the aircraft being flown by the first officer was accelerating on takeoff when the steering abruptly turned the aircraft to left. The takeoff was immediately aborted and on the rollout the aircraft went through a grassy area without touching an object or occurring any damage and coming to a full stop. The problem was caused by the nosewheel steering breakers popping. The airplane was checked and had no damage. The steering worked properly after the circuit breakers were pushed back in. I believe that if a nosewheel steering light would have been installed the problem would have been noticed seconds before and we would have been able to keep the aircraft on the runway. I chose to let the aircraft run out through the small grassy area to prevent the aircraft from making a hard right turn and a possible cartwheel from the extreme force that would have been applied.

Title: FLC OF AN ATX SMT JET ABORTED TKOF AFTER LOSING NOSEWHEEL STEERING AND CTL OF THE ACFT DIRECTION RESULTING IN THE ACFT RUNNING OFF THE SIDE OF THE RWY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR ACFT DAMAGE.
Narrative: ON TKOF ROLL ON RWY 4 THE ACFT BEING FLOWN BY THE FO WAS ACCELERATING ON TKOF WHEN THE STEERING ABRUPTLY TURNED THE ACFT TO L. THE TKOF WAS IMMEDIATELY ABORTED AND ON THE ROLLOUT THE ACFT WENT THROUGH A GRASSY AREA WITHOUT TOUCHING AN OBJECT OR OCCURRING ANY DAMAGE AND COMING TO A FULL STOP. THE PROB WAS CAUSED BY THE NOSEWHEEL STEERING BREAKERS POPPING. THE AIRPLANE WAS CHKED AND HAD NO DAMAGE. THE STEERING WORKED PROPERLY AFTER THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS WERE PUSHED BACK IN. I BELIEVE THAT IF A NOSEWHEEL STEERING LIGHT WOULD HAVE BEEN INSTALLED THE PROB WOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED SECONDS BEFORE AND WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO KEEP THE ACFT ON THE RWY. I CHOSE TO LET THE ACFT RUN OUT THROUGH THE SMALL GRASSY AREA TO PREVENT THE ACFT FROM MAKING A HARD R TURN AND A POSSIBLE CARTWHEEL FROM THE EXTREME FORCE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN APPLIED.
