Narrative:
Cargo weight exceeds reported cargo weight on weight and balance. Flight torino, italy, to jfk airport. Takeoff planned for maximum gross weight limited by runway available. Aircraft acceleration slow and rotated at end of runway. Climb out rate lower than normal, climb to cruise altitude required extra time. En route power settings calculated for cruise speed failed to maintain desired mach, higher than normal fuel consumption throughout flight, aircraft 'feels heavy.' entering cruise charts 'backwards' indicates an aircraft weight 25000-30000 KG over computed based on weight and balance. Approach/landing speeds increased to estimated landing weight. En route advised dispatch crew requests cargo reweigh at arrival. En route reviewed and reconfirmed weight and speed calculations for math errors, none found. CRM used to list various indicators of possible excess weight and procedures. Reported cargo weight: 77103 KG. Actual cargo weight on arrival: 80703 KG. Charts misleading to weight, but other indications valid pointers to overweight condition.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF A WDB OPERATED WITH A HIGHER GROSS WT THAN CALCULATED. THE ACFT REWEIGH AFTER LNDG CONFIRMED A HEAVIER LOAD THAN CALCULATED.
Narrative: CARGO WT EXCEEDS RPTED CARGO WT ON WT AND BAL. FLT TORINO, ITALY, TO JFK ARPT. TKOF PLANNED FOR MAX GROSS WT LIMITED BY RWY AVAILABLE. ACFT ACCELERATION SLOW AND ROTATED AT END OF RWY. CLBOUT RATE LOWER THAN NORMAL, CLB TO CRUISE ALT REQUIRED EXTRA TIME. ENRTE PWR SETTINGS CALCULATED FOR CRUISE SPD FAILED TO MAINTAIN DESIRED MACH, HIGHER THAN NORMAL FUEL CONSUMPTION THROUGHOUT FLT, ACFT 'FEELS HVY.' ENTERING CRUISE CHARTS 'BACKWARDS' INDICATES AN ACFT WT 25000-30000 KG OVER COMPUTED BASED ON WT AND BAL. APCH/LNDG SPDS INCREASED TO ESTIMATED LNDG WT. ENRTE ADVISED DISPATCH CREW REQUESTS CARGO REWEIGH AT ARR. ENRTE REVIEWED AND RECONFIRMED WT AND SPD CALCULATIONS FOR MATH ERRORS, NONE FOUND. CRM USED TO LIST VARIOUS INDICATORS OF POSSIBLE EXCESS WT AND PROCS. RPTED CARGO WT: 77103 KG. ACTUAL CARGO WT ON ARR: 80703 KG. CHARTS MISLEADING TO WEIGHT, BUT OTHER INDICATIONS VALID POINTERS TO OVERWT CONDITION.
