Narrative:
When I reported for duty at XA15, feb/xx/96, the captain said he felt like he was getting sick. The company puts pressure on the crews to fly the aircraft out of the out stations to the hub (kansas city). The captain decided to do this and then called in sick the rest of the day. The captain and I discussed how he felt (at my request) and whether he was fit to fly. He said that he felt he was safe to fly, as far as I could tell that was true. His subsequent performance on the 2 legs up to kansas city from little rock (through fayetteville) was no different than usual and I felt that he was safe to fly. I feel that the pressure the company puts on individuals to fly when they perhaps should not can and does affect the decision-making process of that person as to whether or not to fly. Safety of the flight and passenger should be the consideration here, not the inconvenience of the company. Apparently, someone called the FAA hotline and complained that the captain was flying sick. I felt that he was safe to fly and that the safety of flight was not jeopardized in any way.

Title: CAPT STATES THAT HE WAS GETTING SICK WHEN RPTING TO DUTY, BUT TOOK THE FLT FROM THE 'OUT STATION' TO THE HUB ARPT BEFORE GOING OFF DUTY ON SICK LEAVE.
Narrative: WHEN I RPTED FOR DUTY AT XA15, FEB/XX/96, THE CAPT SAID HE FELT LIKE HE WAS GETTING SICK. THE COMPANY PUTS PRESSURE ON THE CREWS TO FLY THE ACFT OUT OF THE OUT STATIONS TO THE HUB (KANSAS CITY). THE CAPT DECIDED TO DO THIS AND THEN CALLED IN SICK THE REST OF THE DAY. THE CAPT AND I DISCUSSED HOW HE FELT (AT MY REQUEST) AND WHETHER HE WAS FIT TO FLY. SAFETY OF THE FLT AND PAX SHOULD BE THE CONSIDERATION HERE, NOT THE INCONVENIENCE OF THE COMPANY. APPARENTLY, SOMEONE CALLED THE FAA HOTLINE AND COMPLAINED THAT THE CAPT WAS FLYING SICK. I FELT THAT HE WAS SAFE TO FLY AND THAT THE SAFETY OF FLT WAS NOT JEOPARDIZED IN ANY WAY.
