Narrative:
Being on a VFR cross country with my student (private pilot) I relied on him and did not follow along where our exact position was. We were flying at 1000 ft MSL (part of the training program -- low altitude navigation) and on our way from conway, sc, to fayetteville, nc. As winds were stronger than expected we ended up over fayetteville earlier than expected. This was not what my student expected. He was expecting a different airport. Hereby we contacted tower and informed them of our airspace violation (class C). ATC advised me they would not file, but I was responsible as the PIC and flight instructor. Advice to all instructors: being the instructor will make us complacent on many things, especially once the students hold there private pilot certificate. Don't relax, stay alert! I guess I will have to now!

Title: COMMERCIAL PLT TRAINEE ON A DUAL XCOUNTRY FLT FLEW INTO CLASS C AIRSPACE WITHOUT CONTACTING ATC.
Narrative: BEING ON A VFR XCOUNTRY WITH MY STUDENT (PVT PLT) I RELIED ON HIM AND DID NOT FOLLOW ALONG WHERE OUR EXACT POS WAS. WE WERE FLYING AT 1000 FT MSL (PART OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM -- LOW ALT NAV) AND ON OUR WAY FROM CONWAY, SC, TO FAYETTEVILLE, NC. AS WINDS WERE STRONGER THAN EXPECTED WE ENDED UP OVER FAYETTEVILLE EARLIER THAN EXPECTED. THIS WAS NOT WHAT MY STUDENT EXPECTED. HE WAS EXPECTING A DIFFERENT ARPT. HEREBY WE CONTACTED TWR AND INFORMED THEM OF OUR AIRSPACE VIOLATION (CLASS C). ATC ADVISED ME THEY WOULD NOT FILE, BUT I WAS RESPONSIBLE AS THE PIC AND FLT INSTRUCTOR. ADVICE TO ALL INSTRUCTORS: BEING THE INSTRUCTOR WILL MAKE US COMPLACENT ON MANY THINGS, ESPECIALLY ONCE THE STUDENTS HOLD THERE PVT PLT CERTIFICATE. DON'T RELAX, STAY ALERT! I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO NOW!
