Narrative:
This was my first flight as a captain on the DC10. A check pilot was in the right seat flying as PNF. Den approach control cleared us for a visual approach to runway 35L at den. We were to contact the tower at dymon. It was a clear day and we were about 5 mi behind the landing traffic. I watched him land and turn off the runway. I was working hard at making a nice approach and landing. After we landed the check pilot asked the tower if they wanted us on ground control. The voice came back stating that we were still on approach control. I think we were both so busy with the approach, me by the fact that it was my first flight as captain of the DC10, and he by the fact that this was the first time he had seen me fly and land.
